Home visit

I was super nervous about the home visit. Not because of the case worker, or that the house wasn't clean enough or that the banister that we just put into the house was only partially finished{ok maybe this was a little bit of the nerves}...no I think it had far more to do with the fact that this was our last major step of this process. That we could actually be "approved" by the end of the week.
Approved, someone else, a strictly speaking non-interested third party, is saying that they think we will be good parents, our house is safe enough and that a birth parent could select us to be the parents of their baby.
I had so much nervous energy the hour before the case worker came that I was scrubbing the inside of the microwave, the roof of it and in the corners. Brian came in and reminded me that the case worker was not going to be looking in there, he even bet me $5 that she wouldn't be looking. And she didn't. I can laugh at it now, but at the time it was mission critical, it had to be done right then.
We feel so blessed to have so many behind us and being supportive and want to thank them! You know who you are. We could not do this without your help.

  1. Before we had ours, I cleaned and organized every closet and drawer. After she left, I thought, "That's it? I did all that work for that?" Charity actually came to look at our new house this morning. I sure didn't stress about it like I did the first time. Isn't it a great feeling to have that step done?

  2. It feels so amazing to have it done, funny I did the same thing all the closets and drawers. Glad that I am not the only one. The relief is overwhelming. I just can't wait for the "you are approved" letter.

  3. Congratulations on passing another milestone! I love you guys so much, and I'm so excited for all of this! Oh, and next time you feel nervous, it would mean a lot to me if you came over and scrubbed out MY microwave. :)
